New York City Jazz Record Mention!

Thanks to Laurence Donohue-Greene, and Katie Bull, both from The New York City Jazz Record, I recently had a great mention in their vocal news section.  Whilst I was a 2014 Bell Award finalist, and not a winner, I am thrilled by Katie’s lovely comments, and feeling pretty special to be featured in an article alongside Sheila Jordan, Jay Clayton and Bobby McFerrin!

Jazz By The Bay Festival

I’ve just returned from performing in the beautiful town of Dunsborough, Western Australia, for the ‘Jazz By The Bay’ Festival’.  What a beautiful weekend of music, here’s a couple of shots of our performance, and congratulations to the event organisers on another sucessful festival!  For more information, check out their website –

2014 Bell Award Nomination

The Penny King Quintet’s album ‘Journey’ was nominated for an Australian Jazz ‘Bell’ Award this year, and Penny was thrilled to be nominated amongst some of the finest musicians in the country.

April News

It’s shaping up to be a busy month!  I’m looking forward to hitting the Ellington Jazz Club stage on Saturday April 19th, music from 7.30pm.


I’m very excited to announce that yesterday I received notification that my quintet’s album  ‘Journey’ has been shortlisted for an An Australian Bell Award, in the category of Best Jazz Vocal album.  The winners will be announced on the 1st May, so stay tuned and I’ll let you know how I go…..

Ellington Jazz Club TONIGHT!

Hi all, it’s been a while since my last update….. I hope you are keeping up with all the news via my newsletter! (and if you’re not – then sign up right here on the site!)

Just dropping in to let you know I’ll be back at the Ellington Jazz Club tonight with an incredible line up – Jamie Oehlers on Tenor Saxophone, Harry Mitchell on Piano, Pete Jeavons on Bass and Michael Perkins on drums.  The music starts at 7.30pm, We’ll be playing some great tunes, including a couple from our recent CD release, so come down, enjoy the music and come and say hi!

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to our album launch at the Ellington Jazz Club on December 6th!  We had an amazing night, very special thanks to the brilliant musicians who I am fortunate enough to make music with – Carl Mackey on saxophones, Tom O’Halloran on piano, Pete Jeavons on bass and Michael Perkins on drums.
